Starting Over....

I decide that I need to start a new blog because of completely changing my horse program and getting mostly new horses......

I will still of course be running and training barrel horses....Focusing mainly on futurity horses. I no longer have broodmares. Brandon and I are keeping 2 mares that are family. Which brings me to the most important part of Kbar Barrel Horses.....

Here are the horse we own or close.

VM Valentine

"Lucky" is a black, 2006 son of Leo Hancock Hayes and out of a Blue Valentine/foundation bred mare. He is black and stands a little over 15 hands. We just got him on June 30, 2009. He came from Virginia McClintock of Temecula, CA. He is super broke and gentle. He has a great personality and I look for him to doing all kinds of funny, naughty stuff to keep himself and all of us entertained. He is coal black, but kinda bleached out from the hot sun.

Jill's Blue Moon

"Braska" is a 2007 model, blue roan filly. She is currently being broke to ride at John and Peyton's in Holdenville, Ok. I can hardly wait to ride her myself. She is a doll and super sweet. Her sire is Nebraska Blue Moon, a son of Leo Hancock Hayes and out of a daughter of Raise Your Glass. Braska's dam is a Frosty Feature daughter.

Kbar Fashion Label

"Armani" is Dashing Dazzle's 2008 sorrel colt. He is ready to ride right now...guess I have to wait on him to grow up. He is going to be so much fun; Gucci's speed crossed on a reined-cowhorse stud, that ran barrels too!!!!!!

Nessie

Nessie is my raffle horse...I won her. She was super skinny and in bad health when I got her but now she is a fat little toad. I don't think she will ever get very big, but she has the best manners and disposition. She is a pet! I think she will make a great youth horse one day. I plan on her doing it all...barrels, roping, jumping and everything else!!!! She is bay roan and a Aug baby from 2008.

Loyce's Legacy

"Possum" is going to be a hand full!!!! He is out of Darling Taffy Girl and by a Storm Cat grandson. He can fly already! He is a creamy yellow color, just like his mom, with legs that never end. Coming as a huge surprise, May 2009. We are so happy to have him; we tried to bred Ruby and she never stuck. Guess things work themselves out, because he is going to be a Palomino World Champ one day.

Beau Tie N Tails

"Beau" belongs to and was trained by Robin Nobles. He is a big, medicine cap bay roan gelding. When he isn't driving me crazy with his ADHD, he is causing all kinds of ruckus around the barn. I have been keeping him for Robin, since Aug of 2008. She is out of the country till the spring of 2010. He is seasoning out really well, clocking right now in the bottom of the 1D. He is so tough and has a heart as big as him. His nick name is Cream Poof and he was born in 2001.

Broseco Bright Tiger

"Poncho" has quite a story. Being the 'gelding hater' that I am....him sitting out in the pasture not doing anything was driving me nuts. He came from Broseco Ranch in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Brandon's grandfather rode him all over the country in his elderly years. Poncho maybe a great people horse but he is boss in a herd. I started legging him up to sale and cursed him allot because he was lazy and unbroke. What did I expect he had not been rode in like 8 years. Legging him up took forever because he would escape to the woods and I would not be able to find him for a week. Finally I gave up trying to please the old fart and put him in a stall or paddock after I rode him. Thinking that he was 15 and getting bored with trotting around the pasture, I started taking him around barrels in August, 2008. I entered him the first time at Salt Creek Arena in the jackpot. He had been to a barrel race twice before that. He clocked in the 4D. That weekend I ran him at a D&G at Graham, Tx. He did great clocking in the 4 or 5D. I entered him less than 20 times from Oct 2008 to April 2009. He won a buckle, a breast collar and over $700. Clocking in the 3D some at big shows and 4D mostly. He was off half of December and all of Jan. I think he would have been a super star rodeo horse if I would have had him when he was younger. He ended up being a 1988 model. He will live out his life here. His only job now will be to keep all the babies in line.

Darling Taffy Girl

"Ruby" is a palomino. From her name you would guess she is sorrel or maybe red roan, but her barn name derives from my husband calling her something in Spanish; that means stupid blond. Brandon used her as a ranch horse. She is so, so sweet and the smallest kid could ride her, if they could get her to go. She has been known to get suck in park. Ruby had her first foal this year. We are hoping to get more out of her. She is a 1992 mare, that Brandon's late grandfather gave him as a college graduation present. She is special in so many ways.

Dashing Dazzle

"Gucci" was purchased in 2005 from a race horse trainer in Floresville, Texas. I started her on barrels and planned to futurity her. While running and playing in the pasture she slipped and cracked 3 vertebrae in her back, right around her withers. She can be rode but it always irradiates her withers so he became my broodmare. Her first foal is Armani from 2008. She will have an early 2010 foal by a super pretty First Down Dash/Might Deck grandson. I love her to pieces. She has a home with me forever. She is 2001 sorrel daughter of Special Dazzle and out of a daughter of First Down Dash.
I could not find photos of all of them.
